I had just recently watch a movie name religulous, which is a documentary starring Bill Maher. The premiss of the movie was for Bill to go around the country (or world) interviewing people from all sorts of religions. the idea being, not to create conflict but to just get the religious peoples side of the story. one of the many issues that was brought up was the idea of Self fulfilling Prophecy, people of faith making judgments on who is going to hell and who was to be saved.
This got me thinking. People of faith, deem themselves worthy for heaven and in the movie actual people were hoping that the apocalypse would happen in their lifetime so that they could be accepted in the arms of god sooner.
That would mean that all of these religious political figures who hold power in our government would not have any reason to take care of any long term problems. WHY? should they help the environment or come up with solutions to heal our economy if their just going to be whisked away to heaven in a couple of years. Its outrages to think that our long term problems aren’t being taken care of, because some bible humping dick in Washington thinks that the final judgment will come and fix our worldly problems for him.
It keeps me up at night, it really does.
